TAHMOOR

Tahmoor is located 100km southwest of Sydney.

It is located on the Sydney-Melbourne railway line and on the Old Hume Highway.

Tahmoor is one of 31 towns that are located in the Wollondilly Shire.

It is the biggest community in the Wollondilly Shire, although Picton (12km

away) is the main business center.

Tahmoor has a population of 4,335 residents.

The largest shopping center is located in Tahmoor, with a total of 73 shops. 

     Tahmoor used to be a rural village, with chicken farms, dairying,

fruit & vegetable farming as the main occupation of the few residents.

The railway line followed by the freeway brought people into Tahmoor.

      Recently Tahmoor has become a residential town with industries

such as the Tahmoor Colliery and Ingham chicken , which have

provided the local residents with a growth in occupation. 

     Many changes have been made to Tahmoor and many changes

of growth will rapidly occur in the near future.
